Packing clothes for 1 + 2

I pack the clothes for the children and myself. Kim packs his own. This packing list continuously evolves to accommodate our constantly changing lives. Nappies, bibs, or extra clothes for the children for the "just in case moments" have dropped off the list.

As we ponder on our impending adventure, there are various factors that determine the contents of our luggage:
- duration of our trip
- destination
- characteristics of the accommodation (relative's home, hotel, camp ground)
- weather (hot, cold, wet, humid, freezing)
- activities (cycling / swimming)
- special occasion (fancy restaurant / date night / wedding)
- availability of laundry, airing and drying time

Typically the packing list below is for two nights, three days - including the clothes upon our backs. It is adjusted according to the factors above. Interestingly, when it is more than two nights, three days, the list pretty much stays the same. Because more often than not, laundry facilities are available. However this means that one have to do laundry everyday. This is a personal preference - bring more clothes or launder more often. For some, a shortfall of clothes could mean shopping. To me, I prefer to spend my time exploring local cuisine than being stuck at a shopping strip. Woolen items are easier to keep clean. Also, one can hang these up to air and it is all good to wear them the next day. They also dry very quickly.

I am a fan of Marie Kondo of KonMari method of folding. I take elements of her "Spark Joy" and adjust them to suit my lifestyle at home. Thus, I pack items that "Spark Joy". However, instead of using her method of folding when packing the luggage, I prefer to roll. The rolling method makes use of the luggage space more efficiently.

Clothing that require ironing is excluded as I prefer not to do this chore when I am on holidays.

Pyjamas and a set of underpants and socks are organised at the top of the luggage as I placed these on the beds as soon as we arrive. Also, once we arrive, I designate the clothes into each of the clean laundry bags so I am not rummaging in the luggage for our clothes as we need them. Each laundry bag is of a different colour so I am immediately aware whose bag belongs to whom.

Off the record
One of my friends' child went camping for a week and the contents of the luggage returned in the same condition as they left. The lack of luggage opening just proved how focused he was on having fun. Ultimately, I pray this phenomenon will bestow upon us!
