Monarto :: Day 8 :: Monarto

I woke up to the sound of rain tinkering sporadically on the tin roof. With my eyes closed, I waited for the long awaited downpour. The tinkering gradually faded away.

I walked outside to check if I dreaming. It was outside and the ground was hardly wet. It was just a tease. The rain decided not to continue its music on the roof here.

Wayne was already here. He and dad went out to fetch some hay for him to feed his sheep.

After breakfast, we were invited by Caitlin to her house for the children to ride Carly’s pony, Santa.

We then drove to Kanmantoo for lunch at Osteria Sosta. The Italian meal here was memorable as it was delicious, country sized serve and wonderful service.  The chef, John, even came out to talk to each patron. His real name is Eugenio Sanso. He has cooked for famous patrons such as Shirley Bassey, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Dad accidentally left his car keys and phone locked in his car. The RAA came to help. We went to Bleasdale for wine tasting. It was an interesting vineyard as their method is the flooding of the wines.

We asked Dad about their fire plan. They had one but when he started the tractor, but the battery was flat! Glad we checked!

Dad gave Kim all the documentation and photos that were related to the Daldy Family Tree. It was great to listen to Dad’s stories of each member of his family. Is this recorded somewhere? I think we should start a website and record this information so it would not get lost and forgotten.

One of the dogs, Archer, had blood coming out of its nostrils. Dad and Linda have taken him numerous times to the vets but they still didn’t know the cause. Unfortunately, I think that there is a pus filled cavity in its head somewhere that will cause further infection.

Dinner was another simple affair of pan-fried King George Whiting, peeled prawns and salad.

We fed the chickens prawn shells that evening and the chickens absolutely loved it.
