Every
morning, my parents would walk up and down the road as part of their morning
routine.
I
spent time searching for details along the shore. A flock of pelicans
stared at me curiously. The dried moss on the rocks were matted into a flat carpet
that I could lift off.
Different pastel coloured tube worm casings that clinked together like thin ceramic chopsticks in the palm of my hand. Juicy green seagrass reached towards the blue sky.

We
went out on the kayaks. Kim and Ella Mae were together in one. Thomas was in
one and I was in another. The air was calm. We paddled back and forth along the
shore. The water was very shallow. There were dark black forms that were
lurking in the murky water. Kim accidentally hit Ella Mae on the head with one of the oars.
Thomas
practiced to go into one alone. They practiced in the shallows. It was
definitely his thing.
