It was a beautiful day to ride. A little drizzle as we left but the sun came out later in the afternoon.
Our destination was Markham Avenue Reserve.
Ella Mae rode on her own for about 5km. She had sore hands at the end as it was downhill and she had to brake quite often. But she persevered. She was awarded with a happy meal and Nutella milkshake at Fordham Milk Bar. The food was great. Music was good but a tad loud for my liking. Kim assured me that last week it was not that loud. I love INXS but with the volume loud, we couldn't have a nice conversation across the table.
The children played in the Hartwell Station Reserve while Kim finished his coffee in peace. It is a good gated playground as it has a train. Its location near Hartwell Station is a plus especially for the children (adults) who loves trains.
I clipped Ella Mae's bicycle onto mine and we rode onto the Anniversary Trail. My legs were getting a good workout especially up the overpass near the Malvern Public Golf Course.
We went onto Scotmans Creek Trail and went on the footpath under Monash Freeway and back up towards Warrigal Road via The Boulevard.
The children had a good play at the gated Markham Road Reserve. Their favourite is the ropes. There is barbeque areas, water, bicycle parks and toilet facilities here. There is also a basketball ring as well as skate park area.
The climb up Prosper Parade was tough for me. Nevertheless, I deserved a good swig of water at the top!
We admired the mural by Dvate at Hartwell underpass that crosses Toorak Road. It celebrates Harwell's rich built and social history. Also, reminds us of the past with the flora and fauna before it was settled.
We had a very peaceful ride back via Lynden Park. At the end of Lille Street and part way up Union Road, I had to ask Ella Mae to walk up with me as I pushed the bikes. My legs were turning into jelly! More long distance riding with her clipped on I think!
