The first time I ate this was at Prior + Cheney Architects in 2000. We had a barbeque and an outdoor table at the back of our office. I have many fond memories working at this wonderful place. The original was bananas with chocolate buttons wrapped in aluminium foil.
Since then I have used and adjusted the recipe. These are fun to make with the kids on the barbeque as well as fire pit.
Ingredients
Ripe peeled bananas (1 medium banana per person. We normally have cavendish, but lady fingers is the most delicious)
Dark chocolate bar broken into squares (plain / almond / hazelnut / whatever tickles your fancy)
A sprinkle of cinnamon powder (optional)
A sprinkle of desiccated coconut (optional)
Aluminium foil
Method
Tear aluminium foil to a size sufficient to cover the bananas (but not rolled otherwise, the chocolate will be all stuck on the aluminum foil)
Slice bananas lengthwise
Place chocolate squares in between the banana - like a sandwich
Wrap the banana
Bake on barbeque for about 10-20 minutes.
Once the banana is cooked, it will be soft and gooey
